New Reserve Engine Prepared for Service in Danvers

DANVERS, MA — On May 5th — The Danvers Fire Department announced the addition of a 1994 Pierce Saber pumper, which will shortly be put into service as Engine 4, the department's backup. A 2004 E-One reserve engine that is being retired after years of service will be replaced by the device. According to department representatives, the Pierce Saber will offer backup coverage for major emergencies, equipment repair, and other operational requirements.
Reserve engines continue to play a significant role in fire service operations, assisting departments in maintaining response readiness in the event that frontline equipment is unavailable. Before the engine is formally put into service, crews are now using department equipment to prepare it and finishing checks.
