The Yarmouth Fire Department reported on April 18 that six firefighters had successfully finished the five-day NASBLA Boat Crew Member Course.

Coordination, communication, boat handling, navigation, risk management, and crew operations during marine incidents are the main topics of the training, which equips crew members to work alongside BOSAR operators. According to officials, the course covered real-world situations in dynamic marine environments.

Along with a number of regional organizations, the program was carried out in collaboration with the US Coast Guard, the Barnstable Fire Department, the Provincetown Fire Department, the Provincetown Harbormaster, and the Dennis Harbormaster Department.

The department also thanked BMC Spencer Hinman of Coast Guard Station Chatham for leading the course and Provincetown Harbormaster Pete Whinn for providing drone photography. Officials said the training reflects the department’s continued focus on marine response readiness and regional cooperation.
