Preschoolers Tour Fire Trucks in Edgartown

EDGARTOWN, MA — April 28th — Students from Rainbow Place Preschool were invited to the Edgartown Fire Department's station for a fire safety and community education visit. To assist kids learn how responders are ready for crises, firefighters gave tours of department equipment and exhibited firefighting gear. Before kids engaged in a supervised fire hose exercise designed to teach fundamental fire safety knowledge, Firefighter Hiago demonstrated to the class how turnout gear and breathing apparatus are worn.


As part of the community engagement program, the preschool group walked to the local police station after visiting the station. In order to introduce children to emergency services, encourage safety instruction, and assist young kids feel more at ease with firemen and emergency personnel, fire departments throughout Massachusetts frequently visit schools.
