Munhall, PA - Two line officers from Munhall Central Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company enhanced their technical rescue capabilities by attending the nationally recognized “Crash Course Village” vehicle extrication program in Dayton, Ohio.
The large-scale training event brought together 180 students representing 89 departments across 15 states and five countries, offering a diverse and collaborative learning environment. Participants rotated through 10 specialized training pits, each focused on different extrication challenges and techniques.
Topics included advanced vehicle stabilization, limited-access tunneling operations, and handling complex scenarios such as overturned vehicles. A dedicated segment on hybrid and electric vehicles highlighted critical safety considerations, including battery hazards and evolving vehicle construction.
The experience provided valuable, hands-on training and exposure to modern rescue techniques, with department members looking forward to expanding participation in future sessions
