This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

During the second week of May, students in New Britain High School's public safety academy received instruction from members of the City of New Britain Fire Department.

As part of their practical fire service training, students practiced hydrant operations, hose packing, and flowing water. According to officials, the academy still gives students exposure to fire department operations and hands-on experience.

The students' engagement and hard work during the week's training activities were acknowledged by the department.
