SHIP BOTTOM, N.J. — On April 13th — In honor of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, Department Ship Bottom Volunteer Fire Co. thanked dispatchers for their ongoing contributions to the emergency services community. Dispatchers serve as the first point of contact during emergencies, answering 911 calls and coordinating police, fire, and EMS responses at all hours. Information from callers is gathered, emergency units are dispatched, equipment is tracked, and contact is maintained during events.
According to department officials, telecommunicators are crucial to responder and public safety because they enable personnel to respond to situations with rapid and accurate information. Every April, the United States observes National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week to honor emergency communications workers for their commitment and service.
