MANCHESTER, N.J. — On April 22nd — Department Ridgeway Vol. Fire Co. #1 Sta. 34 firefighters took part in a regional training exercise that covered blitz fire deployment, pond drafting, and tanker operations. During simulated fireground operations, firefighters rehearsed providing portable master stream equipment and pulling water from a pond. Tanker shuttle protocols, hose deployment, apparatus placement, and coordinated water transportation between units working in hydrant-free regions were all incorporated in the simulation.
As they worked through controlled training scenarios intended to enhance fireground coordination and efficiency, crews evaluated communication and water supply management. Firefighters were able to practice delivering large-volume water streams during defensive operations thanks to blitz fire operations. Breton Woods Fire Company #1 was congratulated by department officials for organizing the exercise.
