CLAYTON, N.Y. — April 16th — Members of the Town of Clayton Fire Department convened for their weekly Thursday Duty Night training. In addition to performing station chores and equipment checks, firefighters spent the evening practicing hose lays, hose advancements, and aerial ladder operations. During the training practice, crews used the department's 100-foot aerial platform ladder, which was assigned to Truck 14-8-1, and deployed hose lines.

Duty Nights, according to department officials, keep members available at the station in the evenings, which enhances staffing, coordination, and response preparedness. Scheduled duty nights are a common tool used by volunteer fire departments in New York to improve teamwork, maintain equipment, and shorten response times for emergency situations in their local communities.
