MYSTIC ISLAND, N.J. — April 13th — During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, Mystic Island Volunteer Fire Company members honored public safety dispatchers for their contributions to emergency operations and responder safety. During emergencies, dispatchers are frequently the initial point of contact, assisting callers in maintaining composure while obtaining information and organizing the response of police enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services.

Additionally, they help ensure that responders receive critical updates during events and keep lines of communication open amongst workers working in the field. According to department authorities, dispatchers assist first responders during calls around the city and are crucial to everyday emergency operations. The department expressed gratitude to communications staff for their commitment, professionalism, and ongoing assistance with public safety operations.
