LIGONIER TWP., Pa. — April 13th — As part of continuous preparations for the spring wildfire season, members of Station 42 of the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company completed brush fire training. Crews went over fireline safety protocols, water supply coordination, hose deployment, and brush truck placement in wildland firefighting operations. In rural response regions, firefighters also trained coordination and communication skills that are frequently employed during field and woodland fire events.

Regular practical training, according to officials, helps firefighters stay prepared during times of dry vegetation and shifting weather, which can raise the risk of outdoor fires. Extended operations, coordinated water supply efforts, and access to challenging terrain in wooded areas are frequently needed for brush fire situations.
