CRABTREE, Pa. — April 14th — During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, members of the Crabtree Fire Department honored the efforts of emergency dispatchers and communication staff. As the initial point of contact in an emergency, dispatchers assist in coordinating responses for police enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services. By collecting information from callers, allocating emergency resources, and facilitating communication between workers working in the field, dispatchers perform a crucial role, according to officials.

Every year, the United States observes National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week to honor emergency communications specialists who operate in public safety answering stations and 911 centers. The celebration draws attention to the ongoing assistance dispatchers give to responders and other communities.
