NORTH HUNTINGDON, PA. — April 16th — Training sessions on hazardous materials response and decontamination techniques were attended by members of the Department Circleville VFD. Firefighters practiced setting up decon sites and scene safety procedures while reviewing how to appropriately disinfect persons and equipment after a hazardous incident. Handling contaminated equipment, upholding accountability, and lowering exposure risks during hazardous material emergencies were all covered in the refresher course.

Departmental preparation for fuel spills, chemical leaks, and other specialized response scenarios that can arise in the community is aided by hazmat drills. During the nighttime training session, instructor Marino worked with members on coordination and operating procedures. Regular refresher training is still crucial for firefighter safety and emergency preparedness, according to department officials.
