GREENSBURG, PA. — April 30th — Members of the Department Carbon Volunteer Fire Department participated in training centered on how to use newly acquired rescue airbags that were funded by an annual grant. During a number of practical rescue situations, firefighters studied equipment setup, stabilization techniques, and safe lifting protocols.

A patient stuck under a big object, an impingement incident, and a victim-involved simulated tree or utility pole collapse were among the training evolutions. In controlled environments, crews trained coordinating rescue operations and correctly deploying the airbag system. According to department officials, the training enhanced teamwork, strengthened technical rescue abilities, and prepared participants for community-wide situations including heavy lifting, stabilization, and victim extrication.
