The Rio Grande Fire Company and Old Navy participated in the yearly Kids Safety event on May 2, which took place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The purpose of the event was to support the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children while providing families with up-to-date safety information. Community members witnessed demonstrations, including appearances by operational K9 units, met local emergency responders, and got safety advice.

Additionally, Old Navy offered a $5 discount to customers who donated $5 with a purchase of $35 or more as part of their in-store contribution collection. The store reported raising $350 of its $1,500 fundraising target thus far. According to officials, the event fosters community ties while raising awareness of child safety through direct interaction with partner groups and local responders.
