Hopatcong, NJ — April 9th — At Company 3, the Hopatcong Fire Department practiced ladder operations, emphasizing the use of aerial ladders and ground ladder lifts. In addition to using the aerial to safely raise equipment to roof level, crews rehearsed both individual and team evolutions, such as lifting, carrying, and positioning ladders.
To strengthen ladder positioning, climbing tactics, and crew communication, officers oversaw the training. The exercise adhered to typical fire service procedures for structural fires, where ladders facilitate rescue, ventilation, and access. Senior members shared techniques and reinforced safe procedures while working with less experienced firefighters. Companies can develop coordination and stay prepared for situations demanding roof access and elevated operations by training together.
