This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Newton, NJ — April 17th — Along with nearby mutual assistance agencies, the Hampton Township Fire & Rescue carried out a planned morning training exercise in the former KFC facility at the Hampton Mall. Crews practiced synchronized fireground activities, such as hose line deployment, main search, ventilation support, and incident command functions, using the empty building. As units rotated through evolutions aimed at enhancing interagency cooperation and communication, equipment was set up in the region.

Officials affirmed that the activity was not an emergency response but rather a planned drill. Drivers were instructed to exercise caution in the vicinity of the training location, and traffic control was implemented. Before responding to actual disasters, acquired structure training is still a crucial component of fire department preparedness, providing firefighters with realistic conditions to hone skills and interagency collaboration.
