Colesville, NJ — April 6th — During a patient transport event, EMS asked Colesville Fire Company members to set up a landing zone for an arriving medical helicopter, Atlantic Air 3. A safe landing spot was marked and guarded by firefighters, who also made sure it was free of wires, debris, and other dangers. To ensure a seamless transition of care, personnel worked closely with EMS and the aircraft crew.

Air medical helicopters are frequently utilized to shorten the time it takes to get patients to trauma centers, particularly in remote locations or when urgent advanced care is required. The plane quickly left the scene following the landing and patient transfer went smoothly. In order to assist patient care and operational preparedness, fire, emergency medical services, and air medical services continue to coordinate.
