DURHAM, NH — April 8th — Dan Felix delivered a department-wide training session on new self-contained breathing equipment (SCBA) systems at the Durham NH Fire Department, located at 51 College Road. In order to assess the features and functionality of the improved equipment, all four shifts took part in hands-on workshops. Proper use, daily inspection, emergency protocols, and air management techniques were all included in the training.

Additionally, crews practiced troubleshooting techniques in low-visibility scenarios. Enhanced air monitoring systems, better facepiece seals, and integrated PASS alarms are features of modern SCBA equipment. Firefighter training requirements and SCBA performance are governed by National Fire Protection Association standards, such as NFPA 1981 and NFPA 1404. Frequent equipment training ensures that firefighters are equipped to work on the fireground in a safe and efficient manner.
