CHARLOTTE, ME — April 18th — Shortly after noon, crews from Charlotte Volunteer Fire & Rescue, located at 1100 Ayers Jct Rd, arrived at Round Pond in response to a report of a person in the water following a kayak fall. Rescue 1, the Charlotte/Meddybemps rescue boat, and several mutual help organizations were sent out. After being found in the sea, the victim was taken to the rescue boat. Due to the patient's exposure to cold water, first responders started warming procedures and brought the patient ashore, where EMS conducted treatment and assessment in a rescue unit.

Meddybemps Fire Department, Pleasant Point Fire Department, Downeast EMS, Maine Warden Service, and Washington RCC were among the supporting organizations. The victim called for assistance using a cell phone while donning a life jacket.
