Auburn Crews Train on Lakeside Water Supply Operations

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

The Auburn Fire Department announced the start of its Student Live-In Program, which is intended for college students who want to work as firefighters.

Participants in the program get the chance to reside at the station, obtain practical experience answering calls, receive training in real-world situations, and collaborate with career and call members. Auburn Fire provides exposure to a variety of occurrences, including EMS, highway responses, and mutual aid operations, and responds to about 700 calls a year.

The initiative aligns with similar programs across New Hampshire, including partnerships with Lakes Region Community College, allowing students to combine academic learning with practical experience.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, hold a high school diploma or GED, and maintain CPR certification, with Firefighter I preferred. Applications are due June 1st.
