Firefighter/AEMT Travis Dings was recognized by the Farmington Fire Department for his part in initiating a Community Risk Reduction (CRR) program that addresses substance abuse and behavioral health crises.

By putting people in touch with therapy and support resources before things get out of hand, the initiative seeks to go beyond emergency response. Clear and easily accessible information is being provided, families are being assisted in navigating care options, and early intervention is being used to reduce the number of recurrent emergency calls.

Dings brought his experience working as a clinical case manager in mental health and drug use programs throughout New England before joining the department.
