Seabrook, NH — April 14th — Furmer "Jake" Eaton Jr., a retired fire captain who served the community for over 40 years, passed away, according to the Seabrook NH Fire Department. In 1974, Eaton switched from being a call fireman to a full-time firefighter. After receiving a promotion to captain in 1978, he consistently assisted with operations, provided training, and mentored junior members. Long-serving officers assist in maintaining continuity and transferring experience to new hires in agencies such as Seabrook.
Colleagues observed that Eaton continued to be involved in the fire department's operations and personnel even after he retired. His career exemplifies the long-term dedication frequently observed in New Hampshire's fire service, where personnel serve as mentors within their units as well as in the field.
