Sandown, NH — April 18th — Walter "Chip" Hastings, a retired fire chief, passed away, according to Sandown Fire Rescue, 314 Main Street. For many years, Hastings worked for the department as Chief, supervising department administration, operations, and training. Throughout his employment, he assisted in coordinating mutual aid and guided crews through both regular calls and more serious occurrences. Fire chiefs oversee daily operations and emergency response in municipalities like Sandown while collaborating with regional partners.


His steady leadership and emphasis on creating a dependable department were seen by colleagues. The duties performed by local fire department officials throughout New Hampshire were mirrored in his service. His efforts and the enduring influence of his leadership were recognized by the department.
