Boston Fire Department Conducts Senior Safety Training

Boston, MA — April 14th — The Boston Elks Lodge #10 in West Roxbury hosted a senior fire safety presentation by the Boston Fire Department, located at 115 Southampton Street. Fire Extinguisher 101, kitchen safety procedures, and the fundamentals of fire behavior, including the fire triangle, were all covered in the course. Participants went over how fires originate and spread as well as safety precautions including stop, drop, cover, and roll.


Mobility issues were also covered in the instruction, including how to put out small flames from a wheelchair and advice on fall avoidance, restroom safety, and safe havens. By assisting elders in developing awareness and useful skills to lower fire risk and enhance safety in daily situations, the program supports ongoing community risk reduction initiatives.
