HAMPSTEAD, NH — April 18th — Walter Chip Hastings, a retired fire chief, passed away, according to Hampstead, New Hampshire Fire-Rescue & Emergency Management. Along with his spouse, Susan, Hastings joined the department in 1967 and worked there for over 42 years. He oversaw operations, staff development, and training while serving as the department's chief for 30 years. He promoted the department's expansion in the community and served as a mentor to generations of firemen during his tenure. His leadership in the fire department and long-standing dedication to public safety are reflected in his service.
