Hampstead Fire-Rescue Announces Passing of Former Chief

Hampstead, NH — April 18th — Walter Chip Hastings, a retired fire chief, passed away, according to the Hampstead, New Hampshire Fire-Rescue & Emergency Management, located at 17 Little's Lane. Along with his spouse, Susan, Hastings joined the department in 1967 and worked there for over 42 years. He oversaw operations, staff development, and training while serving as the department's chief for thirty years.


He promoted the department's expansion in the community and served as a mentor to generations of firemen during his tenure. His leadership in the fire department and long-standing dedication to public safety are reflected in his service. According to the department, funeral plans will be made public as members honor his years of service and accomplishments.
