BEDFORD, NH — April 25th — During a week of vehicle extrication training, the Bedford Fire Department rotated through practical scenarios with every shift.

Crews focused on scene size-up, danger identification, tool deployment, and coordinated extrication while working in realistic scenarios with a simulated patient. Additionally, training focused on safe removal under pressure and patient assessment.

An essential component of fire and emergency medical services operations, extraction drills enable firefighters to operate effectively in high-stress situations involving trapped persons. Coordination between patient care and fire suppression is strengthened via combined operations training.
