Hands-On Training in Demolition Structures Builds Real Fireground Experience

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Members of the Binghamton Fire Department utilized two acquired structures slated for demolition on Sturges Street and Moffatt Avenue to conduct hands-on, realistic training exercises. Crews practiced a range of critical operations, including VEIS (Vent, Enter, Isolate, Search), ground ladder deployment, vertical ventilation on a steep roof pitch, and wall breaching techniques. The training provided a rare opportunity to operate in conditions closely resembling actual fireground scenarios.
