High Fire Danger Prompts Wildfire Training and Public Awareness Push

JAY, ME — With wildfire danger levels elevated, firefighters recently conducted training focused on the tools and pumps used to combat brush and wildland fires. The session took place at Wilson Lake and centered on preparing crews for increased fire activity.

The training coincided with Wildfire Awareness Week, highlighting the importance of prevention and early detection. Fire officials are encouraging residents and visitors to stay informed on fire conditions, recognize signs of smoke, and report potential fires as early as possible.

Community members are also urged to take part in reducing wildfire risk through property maintenance and cleanup efforts, helping protect forests, homes, and surrounding areas.
