Island Park, NY — April 13th — Eric Gorton's tenure as Chief of Department for 2024–2026 came to an end at the Island Park Volunteer Fire Department, located at 440 Long Beach Road. Before taking on the position of chief, Gorton held a number of leadership positions and was in charge of operations, training, and mutual aid coordination. His emphasis on preparedness, member development, and uniform reaction to situations throughout the district was observed by department officers.
