Garden City Chief Completes Two-Year Term

Garden City, NY — April 9th — Chief James Taunton's two-year term came to an end at the Garden City Fire Department, 347 Stewart Ave., after his last Board of Trustees meeting on April 6. Taunton has been a member since 2012. He was previously Third Assistant Chief and is certified as an Incident Safety Officer and Firefighter I. Upgrades to Station 2, equipment planning, and a potential training facility were among the projects the agency advanced during his tenure.


Additionally, he oversaw operations at other incidents, such as the village's three-alarm fire. Fire Commissioner Vincent Muldoon and Mayor Edward T. Finneran were among the village authorities who recognized his leadership and dedication. Taunton is still employed at Long Island's NYU Langone Hospital.
