Garden City Firefighter Marks 20 Years of Service

Garden City, NY — April 3rd — Firefighter John "Jake" Finneran received recognition from the Garden City Fire Department, located at 347 Stewart Avenue, for completing 20 years of active volunteer service. Finneran has been involved in operations and training for more than 20 years, responding to a variety of crises. For his actions following a building collapse at the county Social Services complex, he received the Bronze Medal of Valor from the Nassau County Fire Commission in 2015.


Officers stated that his experience and consistent reaction time were beneficial to department operations. As the son of former mayor Edward T. Finneran, Finneran also maintains a familial link to public service. His accomplishment and continued devotion were recognized by the department.
