Garden City Firefighters Train on Elevator Emergencies

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Garden City, NY — March 23rd — P.L. Vulcan Fire Training Concepts LLC presented a practical training session on elevator emergencies for the Garden City Fire Department, located at 347 Stewart Ave. Firefighters examined the essential parts, control functions, and shutdown protocols of traction and hydraulic lift systems. With a focus on confined-space safety and building system synchronization, crews rehearsed safe access, lockout/tagout, and patient removal practices.

A careful approach is necessary because elevator incidents frequently include restricted access and mechanical dangers. Officers observed that frequent, scenario-based training guarantees that members can effectively handle these situations and helps maintain operational readiness. In order to promote safe outcomes for both responders and occupants during elevator-related emergencies, the department continues to place a high priority on technical training.
