Riverhead Crews Handle Multiple Calls in 24 Hours

RIVERHEAD, NY — March 24th — Over the course of a 24-hour period, the Riverhead Fire Department responded to many occurrences, keeping crews working throughout the district.


Firefighters set up a landing zone at Route 105 and Northville Turnpike to help with a medical helicopter transport after fighting a working building fire in Calverton.


The following morning, additional crews were tasked to a heavy rescue at Middle Road and Mill Road, while units went to a reported gas odor on Commerce Drive.
