FRANKLIN SQUARE, NY — April 15th — As part of 7th Battalion activities, members of the South Hempstead Volunteer Fire Department participated in combined training with the Franklin Square and Munson Fire Department, situated at 841 Liberty Place. Crews concentrated on coordinated fireground duties, such as primary search, truck company assistance, and hose line deployment. During mutual aid responses throughout Nassau County, officers stressed the importance of communication and working within a single command structure.
Departments can familiarize themselves with each other's manpower, equipment, and standard operating procedures through joint training. These exercises enhance productivity and security in situations where several agencies collaborate. According to department officials, when call traffic rises with seasonal activities, cross-training will continue to be a top emphasis.
