East Rockaway Crews Begin Water Rescue Training Cycle

EAST ROCKAWAY, NY — April 10th — Marine 25 has been put back into service for the boating season by the East Rockaway Fire Department, which is located at 473 Atlantic Avenue. The department's 25-foot Boston Whaler Guardian is outfitted with a fire pump and monitor for water supply operations, as well as search and rescue and maritime firefighting capabilities. Marine 25 assists crews responding to vessel fires, troubled boaters, and water rescues around nearby waterways.


Pre-season equipment checks are being completed by members assigned to the Marine Unit, Dive Team, and Surface Water Rescue Team. In order to keep operations ready for the hectic summer months, training evolutions are planned for the upcoming weeks. Marine operations continue to be an essential component of total response capabilities on land and in the water, according to department officials.
