Color Guard Detail Highlights Community Role

BETHPAGE, NY — April 14th — At a recent New York Islanders game, members of the Bethpage Fire Department participated in the pre-game ceremonial and presented the color guard. As part of the opening presentation, firefighters represented the department and the fire service in a public setting by carrying the colors onto the ice. Departments frequently appoint color guards to assist community events and uphold tradition.


Professional hockey games are one way to showcase the importance of volunteer firemen and build relationships with the general public. In addition to emergency response, Nassau County departments frequently engage in community engagement. The appearance was noted by department authorities as an indication of ongoing community engagement and commitment.
