BETHPAGE, NY — March 29th — The Junior Firefighter Program, which now has 25 members, was highlighted by the Bethpage Fire Department. On Sunday, the group gathers for organized training sessions. Participants engage in exercises including hose handling, equipment familiarization, and fundamental fireground safety that are used by operational firefighters. In order to enhance long-term recruitment and introduce younger people to the fire department, these programs are frequently employed throughout Nassau County.

Situational awareness, discipline, and teamwork are the main topics of training, which takes place in a controlled environment. Local youngsters continued to participate in weekly drills and showed a consistent level of enthusiasm, according to department officers. The program is still a crucial part of getting new members ready for volunteer work.
