Center Moriches Firefighters Train at Suffolk County Academy

The Suffolk County Fire Academy in Yaphank hosted live fire training for members of the Center Moriches Fire Department.


Using a two-story building intended to mimic a typical residential residence in the neighborhood, firefighters took part in a Class A burn simulation. Crews practiced coordinating, attacking fires, and functioning in actual fire situations. According to officials, teamwork is strengthened and the abilities required on the fireground are reinforced through training in controlled live fire settings.


To keep personnel ready to handle crises, the department frequently uses the Suffolk County Fire Academy for practical training.
