CENTER MORICHES, NY — April 1st — Students were given information about professions and volunteer opportunities in fire and emergency medical services by members of the Center Moriches Fire Department at a job fair held at Center Moriches High School.

The duties, training, and daily activities of being a first responder were discussed with students by firefighters and EMS workers. The Suffolk Educational Program for Retention in the Volunteer Emergency Services (SERVES), which provides tuition reimbursement for qualified volunteers, was one of the advantages of volunteering that members emphasized.

According to officials, outreach programs like this foster connections with students, increase interest in careers in public service, and aid in future recruitment initiatives.

The department expressed gratitude to Center Moriches High School for organizing the event and giving them the chance to interact with pupils.
