Hands-On Training Improves Fireground Readiness

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Greene, NY — April 6th — In collaboration with Mirabito Energy Products, the Greene Fire Department provided training at buildings that were slated for demolition. The acquired structures offered a regulated setting for practical, hands-on instruction. Crews practiced hose line advancement, ventilation, and search operations—skills that are challenging to properly recreate in typical training environments.

To increase preparedness and safety, the fire service frequently uses training in structures before they are demolished. The National Fire Protection Association's guidelines encourage the regulated usage of acquired structures. These training opportunities improve overall response capabilities and enable firemen to work more efficiently on actual events.
