DOLGEVILLE, NY — April 17th — At Dolgeville Central School High School, the Dolgeville Fire Department organized a firefighter combat challenge in collaboration with the Southern Adirondack Fire Prevention team. Participants were exposed to the technical and physical demands of the fire department during the exercise. Hose advancement, forced entrance, search, and simulated victim evacuation were among the stations that mirrored typical fireground activities.
The fire department uses these exercises extensively to develop collaboration, endurance, and competence. These kinds of programs assist departments engage with students and the community as part of ongoing fire prevention and recruitment initiatives throughout New York State. Students and staff participated in the event, according to officials, who reported high levels of involvement throughout the day.
