DURHAM, NH — March 21st — After 42 years of service to the State of New Hampshire and 55 years of emergency medical services, Bill Wood was honored upon his retirement by the Durham NH Fire Department, located at 51 College Road. Throughout his tenure, Wood worked extensively in field response, patient care, and EMS system support. Across shifts and agencies, long-serving providers frequently help with training, mentoring, and maintaining operational preparedness.

EMS calls still account for a large percentage of fire department responses, putting seasoned workers in crucial positions throughout regular operations. For system continuity and consistent care, departments throughout the region depend on seasoned providers. Wood's long career in EMS came to an end as the department recognized his service.
