Rochester Fire Marks Retirement of Chief George

ROCHESTER, NH — March 31st — Chief Mike George was honored by the Rochester, New Hampshire Fire Department at 37 Wakefield St. as he wrapped up more than 20 years of service to the department and the community. Chief George was hired full-time in March 2002 after starting out as a call fireman in December 2001. As he rose through the ranks, he was appointed Lieutenant in March 2013, Captain in February 2018, Assistant Chief in March 2023, and Fire Chief starting in March 2025.


Throughout his tenure, he supported staff growth and preparedness while participating in emergency response, training, and department operations. Experience in both operational and leadership roles is reflected in career advancement in the fire service. The department thanked him for his work and wished him a happy retirement.
