The Howard Fire Company in Centre County has recently placed into service twin Rescue Engines. The "new" engines were purchased from Spring, TX, 2 of at least 3 purchased by Spring in 2013. The Pierce Velocity rescue engines have 1500 pump, 750 water and 30 Foam, and a full complement of rescue tools. Rescue Engine 14-1 is based at the main station in Howard. Rescue Engine 14-2 is based at the Marion Township Substation, just off the new Interstate 80 entrance. This is a substantial ugrade, replacing a 1992 Seagrave 1500/750, which they purchaded from Bald Eagle FC, Blair County, original to Keasbey FC, Woodbridge, NJ. Also a 2000 American Lafrance Eagle engine 1500/1000 which was sold to Hepburn Twp, Lycoming County, and a 1990 Mack/E-One Rescue which previously served Fayetteville FC. Franklin County.
