Over 225 firemen and first responders participated in a regional Marine Firefighter training program held by the Bayonne Fire Department throughout the last month, according to Bayonne Fire Chief Keith Weaver.

Enhancing response capabilities for maritime emergencies and bolstering collaboration among waterfront departments were the main goals of the multi-agency training. Along with IMTT staff and members from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, participating agencies included the fire departments of Bayonne, Jersey City, Newark, and Harrison.

Support for the training was provided by Bayonne Dry Dock, the U.S. Navy, and the Military Sealift Command, which helped facilitate hands-on instruction and operational exercises.
