VERONA, NJ - During a recent presentation, Verona UNICO donated $500 to the Verona Fire Department. Fire Chief Nick Poliseno received the donation in support of the department from Verona UNICO President Mickey Melillo Lawrence. An Italian-American service group called UNICO National raises money for regional charities and community initiatives while promoting Italian heritage. Kevin Toscano, a member of both Verona UNICO and the Verona Fire Department, was inspired by the organization's efforts and matched the $500 donation, tripling the department's contribution. Officials expressed gratitude to Toscano and Verona UNICO for their ongoing assistance to the fire service and the Verona community.
