West Harrison Firefighters Participate in Heavy Extrication Training

WEST HARRISON, NY — March 21st — The Bedford Hills Fire Department organized a major extrication training exercise in which firefighters from the West Harrison Fire Department took part. Members participated in practical training involving actual car rescue scenarios alongside firefighters from other Westchester County units. Stabilization, lifting procedures employing cribbing, tenting, digging, and chain cradling were among the stations that crews worked through. Additionally, firefighters deployed hydraulic rescue equipment, which is frequently utilized in severe auto accidents.


Instructors from Signal 73 Fire Training LLC assisted with the training, guiding teams through each evolution and going over methods utilized in challenging extrication situations. Regional training programs, according to officials, guarantee that firefighters retain the skills necessary to safely remove trapped residents during emergency responses and enhance departmental coordination.
