YONKERS, NY — April 2nd — In the Ceremonial Courtroom at City Hall, the Yonkers Fire Department hosted a promotion ceremony to honor a number of employees who had advanced within the department. Fire Commissioner William Fitzpatrick and Mayor Mike Spano led the ceremony. Dominick Fornabaio received a promotion to captain during the event. Brian Mulqueen and Derek Courtney both received lieutenant promotions.

The Yonkers Fire Department uses a civil service procedure for promotions that honors leadership, training, and experience. Supervising crews, organizing emergency operations, and assisting with company-level training are among the additional duties assigned to officers promoted to captain and lieutenant.
