City Hall Ceremony Recognizes Yonkers Firefighters

YONKERS, NY — April 2nd — In the Ceremonial Courtroom at City Hall, the Yonkers Fire Department hosted a promotion ceremony to honor a number of employees who had advanced within the department. Fire Commissioner William Fitzpatrick and Mayor Mike Spano led the ceremony. Dominick Fornabaio received a promotion to captain during the event. Brian Mulqueen and Derek Courtney both received lieutenant promotions.


The Yonkers Fire Department uses a civil service procedure for promotions that honors leadership, training, and experience. Supervising crews, organizing emergency operations, and assisting with company-level training are among the additional duties assigned to officers promoted to captain and lieutenant. Strong departmental leadership, according to officials, keeps the City of Yonkers' emergency response systems running smoothly.
