Historic Promotion Marks Milestone for Roselle FD

ROSELLE, NJ — March 25th — With multiple promotions and new hiring, including the first female captain in the department's 130-year existence, the Roselle Fire Department, located at 725 Chestnut Street, had a historic week. After joining the department in 2019, Rayna Latimer received a promotion to Captain. Latimer, a native of Roselle, has pursued professional growth through courses at the National Fire Academy after working in corrections in the past.


In addition, she helped start the department's Junior Fire Academy program and is a qualified critical event stress debriefer. Guadiane, a paramedic who has worked for the service for more than 20 years, was elevated to Battalion Chief. Additionally, Captain Fred Rittinger, a lifelong Roselle resident who volunteered as a police officer and firefighter before joining the career department in 2017, received a promotion.
