Firefighters Receive Hands-On Training with FEDS Door System

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — March 10th — A FEDS forced entry training door was recently delivered to the Hackettstown Fire Department, giving its personnel a new instrument to practice forcible entry methods utilized in emergency situations. Firefighters can receive training in both "through the lock" and conventional forcible entry techniques for gaining controlled access to locked structures with the FEDS (Forcible Entry Door System) prop.

Firefighters were given an overview of the door, its accessories, and how to use it for departmental training exercises during the delivery. Paul LaRochelle, a retired lieutenant with the Worcester, Massachusetts Fire Department and a firefighter with over 40 years of experience, also gave a train-the-trainer forcible entrance class. LaRochelle manually constructs each unit and created the FEDS prop.
